About Yomelela
Hello! My name is Yomelela, and I am a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Applied Geology graduate currently completing my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). I am passionate about helping learners build confidence and achieve their academic goals through engaging, supportive, and well-structured lessons.
My academic background has given me a strong foundation in **Natural Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics**. During my teaching practice, I have worked with learners from different backgrounds and developed the skills to explain challenging concepts in a simple, practical, and relatable way. I believe that every learner can succeed when they are supported with patience, clear explanations, and the right learning strategies.
As a tutor, I create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from their mistakes. My lessons are interactive, personalised, and focused on developing genuine understanding rather than memorisation. I adapt each lesson to the learner's needs, helping them strengthen their problem-solving skills, improve their confidence, and prepare effectively for tests and examinations.

I believe every learner can succeed when lessons are adapted to their individual learning style, pace, and goals. My teaching approach is learner-centred, patient, and interactive. Rather than expecting students to memorise information, I focus on helping them understand concepts through real-life examples, practical applications, visual explanations, and guided problem-solving. I encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and build confidence in their abilities.
I hold a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Geology, and I am currently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). Through my studies and teaching practice, I have gained experience explaining complex scientific concepts in simple, engaging ways. I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to suit their strengths and areas for improvement.
I teach in English and isiXhosa, which allows me to support learners who may find scientific or mathematical terminology challenging in English. Where appropriate, I use both languages to improve understanding while helping students become confident using the correct academic vocabulary.
A typical lesson begins with a short review of previous work, followed by an explanation of new concepts using clear examples. We then work through practice questions together before the student attempts problems independently with my guidance and feedback. I also provide exam techniques, study strategies, and tips for answering test and examination questions effectively.
My lessons are suitable for Grade 7–12 learners, particularly those studying Natural Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Mathematics. Whether you need help catching up, preparing for tests and examinations, improving your understanding of difficult topics, or aiming for higher marks, I will provide a supportive learning environment that encourages steady progress and confidence. My goal is not only to help students improve their results but also to develop a genuine understanding and appreciation of the subjects they study.
