About Joan
Hello! I'm Joan, a qualified Mathematics, Chemistry and Integrated Science teacher with over three years of experience teaching the Cambridge curriculum. I enjoy helping learners discover that Mathematics and Science can be engaging, practical and enjoyable when they are taught in a way that matches their individual learning needs.
Teaching is rewarding because I get to see students grow in confidence, overcome challenges and achieve goals they once thought were beyond their reach. I believe every learner has the ability to succeed with the right guidance, encouragement and learning environment.
Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with learners across Primary, Checkpoint, IGCSE and secondary levels, while also supporting students following the Kenyan Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum. My aim is not only to help students improve their academic performance but also to develop curiosity, critical thinking and independent learning skills that will benefit them beyond the classroom.

Every learner is unique, so I tailor each lesson to suit the student's learning style, pace and academic goals. My teaching combines clear explanations, guided practice, enquiry-based learning, practical examples and regular assessment to help learners develop a deep understanding of concepts rather than simply memorising them. I encourage students to ask questions, think critically and build the confidence to solve problems independently.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although I can adjust the duration to suit the learner's age and needs. At the beginning of each lesson, I identify areas that need support before guiding the learner through carefully structured activities, worked examples and exam-style practice. I provide constructive feedback and monitor progress continuously to ensure steady improvement.
I am a qualified Cambridge Mathematics, Chemistry and Integrated Science teacher with over three years of classroom experience teaching learners across Primary, Checkpoint, IGCSE and secondary levels. I also support learners following the Kenyan Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum and help candidates prepare confidently for school assessments and examinations.
