About Safiyyah

Hello and welcome!

I am a qualified secondary English teacher (PGCE + QTS) from University College London (UCL), ranked #1 in the world for Education, with a First-Class degree in English from Queen Mary University of London. I have several years of classroom and tutoring experience supporting students from KS3 to A-Level to grow in confidence, sharpen their analytical skills, and achieve higher grades.

What truly drives my teaching is my passion for student development. I genuinely love helping learners recognise their potential, even when they don’t yet see it themselves. I take great pride in noticing small but meaningful improvements such as clearer expression, stronger analysis, increased confidence, and using these moments to motivate students to keep progressing.

I specialise in GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature, and A-Level English, including supporting students aiming for the top grades (7–9 / A–A*). I also enjoy working with younger learners to build strong foundations in reading, writing, and critical thinking, ensuring they feel supported rather than overwhelmed.

My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and highly personalised. I listen carefully to my students, adapt lessons to their individual needs, and create a calm, supportive environment where they feel safe to ask questions and take academic risks. I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance, belief, and structure.

Whether it’s helping a student move up a grade boundary or build lasting confidence in their writing, I am excited to guide and support them every step of the way.

About the lesson

I begin by getting a clear picture of my student's current strengths and areas for development. This helps me create a personalised learning plan that focuses on what they specifically need, whether that’s essay structure, reading comprehension, exam technique or confidence building. From this, I create a tailored study plan that targets:

Essay structure and extended writing

Close language analysis

Exam technique and timing

Creative writing

Analytical skills

Vocabulary and clarity

Confidence building

Lessons are structured, supportive and highly personalised. I provide regular feedback, model answers, and clear guidance for independent improvement. I have worked successfully with a wide range of learners, including those who struggle with confidence or organisation, as well as high achievers aiming for top grades.

I couldn't have achieved a grade 9 in both language and literature without Safiyyah's help going through the analysis (in great detail) of all the different texts we had covered in class!

Safiyyah's tutoring allowed me to understand how to read and fully understand text, helping me answer 16 and 8 mark questions a lot easier when the time to sit my exams finally came. I would definitely recommend her to other Superprof users.
