About Lucy
I am a qualified English teacher with 3 years of classroom experience and 8 years of tutoring experience, preparing students for 11+, interviews, and GCSE English. I have experience teaching, tutoring and examining across the AQA, CIE and iGCSE exam boards. I have a PGCE and a Masters in Education, as well as a BA English degree from the University of Bristol. I also have a background as a speech and debate tutor, and experience preparing students for school and university interviews.

I am available to tutor from KS2 (11+) through to A-level English (literature) and can work with students on reading comprehension, verbal reasoning and essay writing. Lessons are 50 minutes and will be tailored to suit the needs of your child, but will involve a range of interactive activities to improve core skills in English. Typical lessons include: KS3: Reading comprehension, exposure to different types of texts, vocabulary and grammar instruction, practising developing critical arguments in response to a text. GCSE: Essay planning, approaching exam-style questions, exam technique, literature content and revision, analysing language techniques, essay writing
