About Joanne

I have been a qualified secondary English Teacher for twelve years, a GCSE examiner with AQA for five years and a private tutor for eight years. My specialism is GCSE English and Literature but I also have experience of teaching all ages from KS1 phonics to adults as well as tutoring for a variety of 11+ entrance exams.

About the lesson

I am a friendly and approachable fully qualified English teacher with a specialism of teaching GCSE English Language and Literature as well as Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.
Our first lesson will always be assessment based so that I can identify any gaps in knowledge, I will then put together a series of lessons to help give targeted support to my student. I will provide all learning resources and materials required for our lessons and after every lesson feedback will be given to both the student and their parent if they are under 18. My hourly rate also includes support between lessons either by email or telephone - I will also provide homework after every lesson and detailed feedback on this during the following lesson.

Joanne helped with my my gcse english exams and she was great! She was always really friendly and explained things I didn’t understand really clearly. She also tutored my friend and we both went from being predicted 3s to getting 5s in our exams. I’d recommend her to anyone wanting to improve their GCSEs grades.

My hourly rate for face to face tutoring at my home in Sheffield is £30.
My hourly rate for face to face tutoring at your home is £35/£40 ( a little extra for petrol costs and travelling times - depends on the distance)
