About Dionne
I have been teaching Art and Design subjects in a sixth form college for 17years. I have experience teaching Art and Design A Level, GCSE, vocational and Art Foundation Diploma courses. My approach is student centred. I work with their ideas and bring out the best in them. My extensive experience means I have worked with students with a huge variety of skills, experience and interests and I can adapt my teaching to meet their needs. I love visiting exhibitions and have excellent contextual knowledge which helps my students extend their knowledge of others’ work and gets them excited about their projects. I am ambitious for my students and have supported them in gaining outstanding results and gaining places on excellent HE courses. I am also a year head which means I have extensive experience with pastoral and academic concerns. Alongside my teaching I work as a practicing artist, enjoy yoga, reading self development books, studying Dharma and practicing meditation and mindfulness. These interests also inform my teaching and ensure I keep students’ well being at the centre of my work. I am also a qualified executive coach which means I delight in helping people set and achieve goals. My interest in positive psychology and growth mindset means I help students develop helpful self-talk and a mindset which enables them to navigate the challenges of studying for exams. I also work well with parents/ carers and believe a wholistic approach best serves young people to achieve and flourish in a changing world.
