About Ms Ada

I am a fully qualified Maths Teacher (PGCE, QTS) and PhD mathematics educator, specialising in helping secondary students develop their understanding, confidence and exam technique in GCSE Maths.

Mathematics can sometimes be a source of anxiety or frustration, particularly when gaps in understanding begin to build. My tutoring goes beyond memorising formulas. I provide highly personalised lessons that combine clear mathematical explanations, targeted practice and effective exam preparation.

Whether a student needs support with core concepts or is aiming for the higher GCSE grades, I identify gaps and misconceptions and build a structured learning plan around their individual needs, current level and target grade.

SEND & Neurodiversity Support

As a qualified teacher, I understand that students learn and process mathematics in different ways. I use clear explanations, visual representations, carefully scaffolded examples and step-by-step modelling to make abstract mathematical concepts more accessible and reduce unnecessary cognitive load.

Where appropriate, I use concrete, pictorial and abstract representations alongside an I Do – We Do – You Do approach, gradually reducing support as the student becomes more confident and independent.

My aim is not simply to help students get the right answer. I want them to understand why a method works, recognise when to use it and develop the confidence to apply their knowledge independently in GCSE examinations.

By combining strong subject knowledge, professional classroom experience and an adaptive approach to teaching, I aim to help every student enter their examinations feeling prepared, capable and confident.

Personalised GCSE Maths Tuition

Every student is different, so lessons are tailored to their current level, target grade, exam board and individual areas for improvement. I support students preparing for AQA, Edexcel and OCR GCSE Mathematics, at both Foundation and Higher Tier.

Identify the gaps: We begin by identifying misconceptions and areas of weakness so lesson time is focused where it can make the greatest difference.

Understand, not just memorise: I break difficult topics such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry and statistics into clear, manageable steps. Where appropriate, I use visual representations and a Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract approach to help students understand the mathematics before moving to more abstract questions.

I Do – We Do – You Do: I first model a method clearly, then we work through examples together before the student applies the method independently. Support is gradually reduced as confidence and understanding develop.

GCSE exam technique: Students practise carefully selected exam-style and past-paper questions and learn how to interpret questions, show clear working, avoid common mistakes and gain method marks on multi-step problems.

SEND and individual learning needs: Lessons can be adapted through clear explanations, visual modelling, scaffolded questions, additional processing time and carefully structured practice. The aim is to make mathematics accessible without lowering expectations.

Regular checks for understanding: I use questioning and short diagnostic tasks throughout lessons to identify misconceptions early rather than allowing them to become embedded.

First 30-minute session: The initial consultation is free. We discuss the student's current working level, target grade, exam board and areas of difficulty so that future lessons can be appropriately targeted.

My aim is for students to leave lessons not only knowing what to do, but understanding why the mathematics works and becoming increasingly confident solving problems independently.
