About Gem
I am a qualified Secondary Music Teacher, Grade 8 Pianist and professional musician with over 20 years of experience performing and teaching worldwide. My career spans cruise ship entertainment, songwriting, DJing, and working as a drum and bass vocalist, giving me a unique and versatile perspective to share with students. I pride myself on creating engaging, supportive lessons that build confidence as well as skills. Whether you are a complete beginner, preparing for GCSE or A-Level exams, or an advanced musician looking for fresh inspiration, I bring patience, expertise and real-world experience to every session. My goal is to inspire students of all ages to enjoy music, grow creatively, and reach their potential.

I believe lessons should be engaging, supportive and tailored to each student’s goals. I use a mix of practical playing, listening, and creative exercises to make learning enjoyable and effective. A typical lesson lasts 45–60 minutes, depending on age and focus. I’m a qualified Secondary Music Teacher, Grade 8 Pianist and professional performer with over 20 years’ experience across teaching, live performance and recording. My background includes cruise ship entertainment, songwriting, DJing and working as a drum and bass vocalist, which allows me to bring a wide variety of real-world experience into my lessons. I teach all levels and ages, from complete beginners through to advanced musicians, GCSE and A-Level students, and adults who want to build confidence or simply enjoy making music. Lessons are designed to help students develop strong technique, musical understanding, and most importantly, enjoyment of music.
