About Terry
My approach to tutoring goes beyond academics—it's about understanding each child's unique needs and personality. I believe that for children to truly succeed, they need to feel that their tutor is someone who genuinely cares about their personal growth as well as their academic achievements. That’s why building a real connection with my students is a top priority for me.
I strive to create a positive, encouraging environment where children feel supported, motivated, and inspired to learn. Lessons are tailored to their individual learning styles, incorporating creative exercises and real-life examples to make learning both fun and relevant. By getting to know each student, I can offer guidance that helps them build confidence in their abilities and develop a genuine love for learning.
I’m not just here to help with schoolwork—I’m here to encourage, cheer them on, and make sure they know I’m in their corner. I believe when children feel understood and supported, they’re more likely to push themselves, enjoy the process, and achieve great things. My goal is to inspire that spark of curiosity and confidence that stays with them far beyond the lesson.

My approach to tutoring is centered on creating an engaging and supportive environment, where each student feels encouraged to learn and grow. I use a mix of interactive activities, real-life examples, and creative exercises tailored to individual learning styles. Lessons typically last one hour, providing ample time to cover key concepts and allow for practice and questions.
As a qualified primary school teacher with an NQT, PGCE, and a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, I’m experienced in teaching students aged 7-11 (KS2). My lessons are designed to build confidence and foster a genuine love for learning. Each child is different and it is my job as a tutor to adapt to their needs and create that spark of interest.
My lessons are adaptable so if there are particular areas you wish to focus on then that is where we will place our focus. Like I say to my students at school, English is simply a case of ticking boxes. What does your sentence contain? Is punctauation present? Grammar? How about more complex clauses? All of this we can tackle together.
