About Amy

I am Amy. I am a mother to one 4-year-old son, Freddie. I have taught in primary schools for 12 years and I love to find out all about my students' interests. Once I know the things you love, I can inspire you to learn through your interests. I love to read and my passion is teaching children the skills they need to be confident and fluent readers too. I recently qualified as a SENDCo and have 3 years' experience supporting children and young people with additional needs.

About the lesson

I am an experienced classroom teacher in key stage 1 and key stage 2. Most recently I am a qualified SENDCo and specialise in social emotional and mental health needs. I have a proven track record in transforming a child's ability to read - the most important skill to acquire and the one that opens up wider educational success. I have taught in year 5 for five years and offer SATS prep or booster sessions. My lessons will be engaging and bespoke. I will always take time to get to know my students' abilities as well as gaps in knowledge to enable me to plan specific learning outcomes that are individual to all of my learners. I am able to adapt my lessons to be visual, active or audible depending on the students' learning styles. I am also trained in Makaton and able to incorporate this into my lessons to make them accessible to students with communication and interaction needs. I believe all children have the ability to learn and make progress and spend time researching and trying out new teaching strategies to remove barriers to learning. My own ethos is centred around relationships - I work hard to build positive relationships with students which enables me to be attuned to their individual needs and builds trust. I want to inspire a love of learning in all of my students and look forward to meeting future learners online! This is an introductory offer for March 2025 and hourly rates will be reviewed. This rate can be secured for the first 10 students that register with me. All new students receive one 30-minute free tuition. *I will make contact with parent/carer initially via email to set up the Teams link and share a short form to collect necessary academic information for all students*
