About Elli

Hello, I’m Elli.

I am a qualified teacher of Greek language and literature, born and raised in Greece, and a native Greek speaker. I hold an MSc in Inclusive Education from the University of Edinburgh and an MSc in Language Technology.

I have over 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience, working with children, teenagers and adults with different goals, levels and learning needs.

I teach Modern Greek, Ancient Greek and Greek literature. I work with complete beginners, learners who already know some Greek, and students who need support with school, university or personal language goals.

My teaching style is calm, structured and supportive. I explain Greek step by step, using clear English, practical examples and personalised notes, so that students can understand not only what to say, but also how the language works.

I also have experience teaching learners with additional educational needs, including neurodivergent learners. This has shaped the way I teach: I adapt each lesson to the student’s pace, confidence and learning style, and I aim to make learning feel approachable rather than overwhelming.

Alongside Greek lessons, I also offer beginner-friendly digital skills lessons for learners who want to become more confident with technology. These lessons can support adults, neurodivergent learners and learners with diverse needs who want to practise everyday digital skills such as using email, Google tools, online documents and basic online communication.

Whether you want to learn Greek for travel, communication, heritage, studies, literature or personal interest, or you want to build confidence with digital tools, I can help you learn step by step with patience, clarity and encouragement.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalised, structured and adapted to each student’s goals, level and learning style.

In the first lesson, we discuss what the student wants to achieve and create a clear learning plan. This plan can always be adjusted as we progress, depending on the student’s needs, confidence and pace.

For Greek lessons, I focus on building strong foundations in reading, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and communication. I use clear explanations, practical examples and personalised notes, so that students understand how the language works and feel confident using it.

Depending on the student’s interests, I may also include different types of material, such as short texts, literature, articles, songs, videos, dialogues or everyday real-life examples. This helps make the lesson more engaging and relevant.

For Ancient Greek and Greek literature, I help students understand the text step by step, focusing on vocabulary, grammar, translation, meaning and exam or course requirements.

I also offer beginner-friendly digital skills lessons, especially for learners who want to become more confident using technology. These lessons can include email, online documents, Google tools, basic online communication and everyday digital tasks.

My aim is to make every lesson calm, clear and encouraging, so that students can learn at their own pace and build confidence step by step.

Perfect! Very patient and attentive teacher. Highly recommend! She was well prepared as well.

Elli's response
Matthew is a highly motivated, consistent, and intelligent student with a genuine desire to improve his Greek. He approaches each lesson with curiosity, enthusiasm, and a real willingness to learn and practise.

He is always engaged, asks thoughtful questions, and makes a strong effort to use new vocabulary and expressions in conversation. I really enjoy teaching him, and it is a pleasure to see his progress and commitment from lesson to lesson.

I would highly recommend Matthew as a student to any tutor.

Hana

Perfect! Great tutor

Elli's response
Hana was very engaged and motivated during our first lesson. We focused on the Greek alphabet and first sounds, and she made a very good start in recognising and pronouncing the letters. She was attentive, asked questions when needed, and responded well to repetition and guided practice.

As a next step, we will continue building confidence with the alphabet, pronunciation and reading simple words, while gradually moving into basic greetings and short everyday conversations.

I would definitely recommend Elli as a Greek teacher. We studied together during our MSc in Language Technology, and I can confidently say she is patient, kind, and very clear in the way she explains things. She has worked with both children and adults for many years, which really shows in her approachable and easy-going teaching style. She would be a great choice for beginners, especially for anyone who feels a bit shy or needs a friendly and encouraging teacher.

I met Elli last year as I wanted to study literature and poetry. Not only her passion, knowledge and the integrity of her character but also her alternative methodogy (poems that have been transferred in songs) helped me to improve my reading skills as well as my writing skills. I strongly recommend Elli to somebody who wants to explore the literature and learn Greek in a fun way!
