About Katie
Hello! I'm Kathryn. I'm from Manchester, England. I'm an English enthusiast with a unique blend of journalistic experience and a passion for travel and reading. I graduated from the University of Lincoln, majoring in Journalism. I have continued to pursue this journalist career, focusing mainly on politics. That being said, since an extremely young age I have had an intense passion for the English language and literature, which has, perhaps naturally, led me to also embark on a tutoring journey. I have been tutoring English online for about 2 years and have a TEFL diploma. My current students are a mix of levels and beautifully diverse. From this, I have experience teaching grammar, writing, speaking, and literature in multiple different ways. Over the years, my passion for travel has allowed me to truly appreciate the richness of different languages but also to understand the universality of the English language as a bridge between cultures. It is from here that I became interested in teaching English and linguistics. One of my main hobbies has to be reading. My passion for reading extends from classic literature to contemporary works, allowing me to appreciate the nuances of language and I try to share that appreciation with my students. I believe in creating an immersive and engaging learning environment where language transcends boundaries. Through my experiences and love for literature, I aim to ignite that same passion for English in my students, fostering not just language proficiency but also a deeper cultural understanding.

I create engaging and interactive lessons tailored to each student’s specific needs, goals, and learning style - I will always ask you first what you want and what you find the most useful technique. I want to ultimately build confidence in English by blending different techniques.
I like to use real-life materials such as articles and then a natural structure-free conversation based on the topic. I can also incorporate grammar tasks, vocabulary games, and anything else that you find helps you the most.

With a degree in journalism, and diplomas in English literature, politics, and teaching, I can guide students in a wide range of English-related skills, from conversational fluency to academic writing. I mainly teach adults how to prepare for exams or those focusing on career progression, or simply improving fluency for travel or daily life.
