About Julia

For the last 10 years I have worked as a private Russian Tutor for numerous individuals and language companies in London as well as online via Skype. My previous clients worked for The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Tesla Motors, Sky News and Reuters, The Economist, Morgan Stanley, Commerzbank, Doctors Without Borders, VivaKi and other companies.

I have extensive experience of teaching all levels of Russian language both online via Skype and face-to-face to adults and Secondary school pupils specialising in successfully preparing them for different types of exams. I have worked with all ages and levels - from complete beginners to GCSE, A Level, BA, MA, PhD and TORFL as well as professionals needing Russian for work. Exam results and feedback from previous students can be provided on request. The average exam result for both GCSE and A Level is A/A*.

Since graduating from Queen Mary University with a BA in Russian and Linguistics, I have privately tutored numerous students at Queen Mary and helped to prepare them for the end of year exams after being recommended for the role by one of my lecturers. As a result, I am familiar with university level Russian Curriculum.

I have also researched, written, recorded and presented a successful online video course for complete beginners based on the Curriculum of the Elementary Level of the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language. My course has been well-received and I have since had online group seminars, discussions and feedback sessions with the students, which I found extremely exciting and rewarding.

About the lesson

I teach all levels and age groups of 14 years old and up.

I tailor my lessons depending on the skill required, be that conversation, grammar or reading. Having studied Latvian, French, German and English myself I can relate to and anticipate any difficulties of learning a new language and always try to plan lessons in a fun and challenging way. I use appropriate study materials and adapt the pace and homework to suit the needs of each individual student. First lesson is dedicated to establishing any prior knowledge of Russian and agreeing on a suitable study plan to achieve necessary results.

I provide all study materials and current and relevant real-life media resources to suit your learning objective and prior knowledge of Russian. Every student receives an adapted study plan with homework, “in class” skills practice and systematic testing to monitor their progress and keep learning relevant to their needs. All you need is an Internet connection and we are ready to go.

Studying online via Skype means that we can fit lessons around your schedule and learn Russian anytime, anywhere. The duration, intensity and times of lessons are tailored to suit your needs. The times and days of lessons can vary from week to week to fit with your busy schedule.
