About Laura

I have a huge love of performing and feel incredibly fortunate to work as a professional singer. Alongside this, teaching is something I genuinely care about. I want to support and nurture the next generation of singers, just as I was supported when I was learning. I know from experience that, without the right encouragement and guidance, singing might not have felt like a possible or sustainable career for me. For me, the joy of singing is at the heart of everything. While technique and skills are important, I believe that enjoyment is what truly connects performers to their audience, and that is something I always aim to pass on to my students. Whether someone sings professionally or purely for enjoyment, that sense of joy is what makes performing meaningful. I have performed internationally with companies and venues including Garsington Opera, Palau de les Arts (Valencia), and Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona). Bringing this professional experience into my teaching allows me to support students not only technically, but also with confidence, mindset, and the realities of performing. My aim as a teacher is to create a supportive, encouraging space where students feel safe to explore their voice, grow in confidence, and enjoy sharing music with others.

About the lesson

My teaching focuses on helping students sing healthily, confidently, and with their own individual sound, while enjoying the process of making music. I teach all ages and abilities, from complete beginners to advanced singers, and tailor every lesson to suit the student’s goals and learning style. I work with a wide range of styles, including classical, musical theatre, pop, and contemporary singing, all built on a classical technical foundation to ensure safe and sustainable vocal production. Alongside technique, I place strong emphasis on expression, confidence, and performance skills. I graduated from the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, achieving First Class Honours and a Distinction. Alongside teaching, I perform internationally, bringing current professional experience directly into my lessons. Lessons typically last 45 minutes to one hour. I also offer music theory tuition and particularly enjoy teaching it, as I understand that traditional theory teaching doesn’t work for everyone. Having found it challenging myself when learning, I take flexible and practical approaches to help students truly understand the concepts. My aim is for students to develop a healthy technique, confidence in their voice, and a genuine enjoyment of singing and performing.

A pleasure to work with Amanda! She has a wonderfully warm and lovely natural tone to her voice and she is full of positivity and great humour, making her a fantastic student to teach.
