About Debra
My college degree is in journalism, which concentrated on gathering information from a variety of sources and methods and writing newspaper stories for the public. Later, I worked with elementary students in improving their reading and writing skills. My emphasis is on making students comfortable expressing themselves through these mediums. When they read and write about subjects they enjoy, they take immense interest in their work. Initially, it may seem tedious, but the work they produce will be something of which they can be proud. They will also see how it helps in school and in daily adult life.

Taking the time to improve your writing and reading will greatly improve your communication skills, job performance and overall daily life.
Younger students improve their skills by daily practicing reading and writing. Together, we will read about subjects that interest students, as well as write about those subjects.
Older students can practice composing GED essays in preparation for the high school equivalency exam. We will also look at how to take language tests in order to earn passing scores.
Literacy at all levels is emphasized.
