About Candice
Originally from Chicago, I've spent the last 30 years in Phoenix, where I've dedicated myself to helping young learners thrive. As a mom of two young adult children, and a lifelong lover of reading, I understand the importance of building strong literacy skills early on. Beyond tutoring, I am a huge lover of dogs, and I also play the drums and love attending concerts and live music festivals.

My lessons are engaging, fun, and personalized to every student and their needs. I use proven strategies that make learning to read exciting, while building confidence and essential literacy skills. My methods consist of phonics based instruction, comprehension strategies, fluency development, vocabulary expansion, and writing and spelling support.
I am a patient and encouraging teacher, creating a positive, pressure free learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and growing.
Every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to fit each child's strengths and weaknesses. Incorporating games, and hands on activities keep my young learners engaged, and builds their confidence to help develop a love for reading.
