About Ivan
I studied Communications at university and have professional experience working in finance. I enjoy traveling and learning about different languages and cultures, especially through the food, flavors, and everyday experiences of different places. I’m naturally curious and enjoy exploring how people communicate and understand ideas. I bring that curiosity into my teaching, with an emphasis on taking the time to understand what we are reading rather than making assumptions about what a text means.

My approach is simple: I teach people how to read before I teach them what to think about what they have read. We work directly with books and written passages, starting at the most fundamental level of understanding. In a typical lesson, we read a passage carefully, identify exactly what it says, and then examine a second passage that may appear completely unrelated. We compare the two and explore what one text can reveal about the other. The sequencing of information matters, so we pay close attention not only to individual words and sentences, but also to what comes before and after them and how that changes our understanding. I teach students to stay with the text rather than automatically filling gaps with assumptions or outside ideas. My goal is to develop a fundamental skill: being able to read something carefully, understand what is actually there, recognize what is not there, and build understanding from the evidence in the text. These lessons are for anyone who wants or needs to strengthen their ability to read and understand—regardless of age, educational level, or starting point.
