About Tammy
Hi! My full name is Fiyinfoluwa Taiwo-Ajayi, but you can call me Tami and I’m so excited to be your tutor. A little bit about me and my overall qualifications: I am a recent IB (International Baccalaureate) diploma graduate. Now, I am an undergraduate molecular biology and genetics research student. My IB experience enabled me to build a strong foundation in Biology, Chemistry, French, Math and English Literature so I am more than fully equipped to help all middle and high school students of different levels grasp their work curriculum.
As an IB diploma student, I can say that the program was very demanding with heavy workloads such as an extended essay, long biology and chem lab reports, and evaluative and analytical exams. While my IB experience strengthened my academics, it also taught me resilience, time management, and adaptability, which are qualities that I bring into every tutoring session. Remember your academic goals are never out of reach. Let's work together to stress less and achieve more!

As a former IB student who faced the challenges of balancing rigorous coursework, I'm able to empathize with students who feel overwhelmed about their academics and want to guide them in navigating their studies successfully and confidently.
Over time, I mastered the skill of breaking down complex concepts into more manageable parts and I now pass this knowledge onto my students. My teaching approach concentrates on student's understanding first rather than memorization of the concept's rules. I use visuals, problem-solving exercises, application formatted questions, allowing students with different learning styles to succeed with the most appropriate support.
My typical lesson plan begins with a quick diagnostic to identify the student’s needs, then a structured explanation supported by visuals, analogies, and step-by-step reasoning of the challenging concept. I would also work through guided examples with my student, followed by independent practice to build confidence and mastery. After, I end each session with a concise summary and personalized study recommendations. What sets me apart is my IB experience and strong background in molecular biology and genetics.
My goal as a tutor is to make sure you feel comfortable asking questions, and that by the end of our sessions, you walk away feeling more confident than you came in. My lessons are ideal for middle school and all high-school students (IB, AP, Academic) taking biology, math or chemistry.
