About Samuel
I'm a 22 year old joint-honours graduate in Economics and Spanish language from the University of Birmingham. Last year I completed a year studying abroad in Valladolid, Spain, and chose to live in a university accommodation of entirely Spanish people in order to perfect my language ability. I have over a years' experience teaching both English and Spanish language, teaching English while in Spain and Spanish since returning to the UK, followed by working at a language school in Lisbon since Christmas teaching both. I work flexible hours and am hoping to supplement my teaching here with additional online work.
Language learning in general is a great passion of mine, and I hope to be able to inspire this passion into my students!

Having learnt Spanish from zero to fluent myself, I'm fully aware of all the steps that need to be undertaken as well as difficulties that might present themselves. I take an interactive mixed approach to teaching: I emphasise teaching sentence formation and how to converse naturally, while still centring the lessons for the GCSE/A level curriculum and ensuring that the necessary grammar and vocabulary are learned alongside.
My priority is making sure that the student feels comfortable in the environment attempting to speak in Spanish; often, the most difficult part is overcoming the shyness that speaking another language can bring out, and I feel that keeping the lessons light-hearted and free form based on an overarching topic is the best way to bring this out.
I feel the online format can actually add rather than detract from lessons, and I take advantage fully of the multitude of online tools that are available to make the lessons feel as natural as possible.
