About Chastity

I am an ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in Standard American English accent modification, helping individuals communicate with clarity, confidence, and purpose. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from the State University of New York at New Paltz, with minors in Linguistics and Latin American Studies, and completed my Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Long Island University. My graduate-level education and clinical training included extensive study of articulatory phonetics, acoustic analysis, prosody, suprasegmentals (stress, rhythm, and intonation), and speech sound disorders—core components of accent modification. I am trained to analyze how a client’s native language influences English speech patterns and to design targeted intervention plans that address segmental sounds (vowels and consonants) as well as suprasegmental features that most impact intelligibility and perceived fluency.

My work is grounded in a deep respect for human connection and the belief that communication plays a central role in how we engage professionally, socially, and personally. My goal as a speech-language pathologist is to empower clients of all ages and backgrounds with practical communication tools and meaningful access to language, enhancing independence, confidence, and overall quality of life.

Outside of my professional work, I enjoy playing tennis, studying Spanish and Italian, reading, traveling internationally, and spending time with loved ones. Learning additional languages strengthens my understanding of cross-linguistic influence and the challenges of acquiring new sound systems, while travel and cultural exploration deepen my sensitivity to diverse communication styles. These experiences enhance my ability to connect with clients, tailor instruction thoughtfully, and create a supportive, motivating learning environment.

About the lesson

I provide evidence-based Standard American English accent modification grounded in my training and clinical experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist. My teaching approach integrates phonetics, speech anatomy, and sound production to help clients understand how and why sounds are produced, not just how to imitate them. Lessons are highly individualized and use diversified, relevant materials drawn from each client’s everyday life, including workplace communication, social interactions, presentations, and real-world conversations where Standard American English is most often used.

I hold an undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders, with additional studies in Latin American Studies and a minor in Linguistics, as well as a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. This foundation allows me to address accent modification with a deeper understanding of language systems, motor speech, and cross-linguistic influence. I have been trained and have experience working with clients across the lifespan, from children to older adults, and I tailor my methods to each individual’s goals, learning style, and communication needs. My goal is to help clients speak with clarity, confidence, and authenticity, while respecting their identity and linguistic background.
