About Katherine

Music has been the cornerstone of my life since childhood, and my passion for the piano has driven my journey as both a performer and a teacher. With years of dedicated practice and exploration across various musical genres, I bring a deep understanding of the instrument's intricacies to my teaching.

My own musical education began with classical training, where I honed my technique and developed a love for the rich history and complexity of classical piano repertoire. As my skills evolved, I ventured into jazz, captivated by its improvisational freedom and rhythmic vitality. This journey has shaped my versatile approach to teaching, allowing me to cater to a wide range of musical interests and aspirations.

In my teaching practice, I prioritize a student-centered approach that fosters growth and creativity. Each student is unique, and I tailor my lessons to accommodate their learning style, goals, and musical preferences. Whether guiding beginners through the basics or coaching advanced students on nuanced performance techniques, I am committed to nurturing their development with patience, encouragement, and constructive feedback.

Beyond teaching, I continue to perform and collaborate with fellow musicians, continually expanding my own repertoire and deepening my understanding of music theory and performance techniques. This ongoing engagement in the music community enriches my teaching, as I bring fresh insights and experiences to every lesson.

Ultimately, my goal as a piano teacher is to inspire a lifelong love for music in my students. I strive to instill not only technical proficiency but also a deep appreciation for the expressive power of the piano. My greatest joy lies in witnessing my students' growth and witnessing their confidence as they discover their musical voice and navigate their own musical journeys.

We'll work on fundamental techniques such as hand posture, finger dexterity, and sight-reading, while also exploring the nuances of musical interpretation and performance.

During our time together, I encourage exploration of various musical genres, from classical masterpieces to lively jazz standards. This diversity not only broadens musical horizons but also allows students to discover their personal preferences and strengths. I aim to foster a deep appreciation for music while equipping students with the tools they need to express themselves confidently through the piano.

I place great emphasis on fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment. Patience and encouragement are core to my teaching style, ensuring that students feel motivated and supported as they progress. Through constructive feedback and guided practice, I help students overcome challenges and celebrate their achievements, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment in their musical journey.

Whether you're pursuing piano as a hobby or aiming for a professional career, my goal is to inspire and empower you to reach your full potential as a pianist. Together, we'll embark on a rewarding musical journey filled with growth, creativity, and joyous exploration of the piano's limitless possibilities.
