About Gary
Singing is part of a six-year tutoring career during which I have worked with 260 students, many of whom arrived deeply nervous about using their voice in front of another person. My own musical background combines early classical vocal training with years of informal singing in community and amateur settings, shaping my belief that confidence matters just as much as technique. I am a gentle, patient teacher, and I deliberately avoid harsh correction in early lessons, focusing instead on building comfort before precision. Many of my students specifically sought out a tutor after feeling embarrassed by past experiences elsewhere previously.

My singing lessons begin from a place of reassurance, since many new students arrive convinced they simply cannot sing well before we have even started working together properly. Breathing and posture form the foundation of every lesson, taught through simple, low pressure exercises rather than intimidating vocal demonstrations that could discourage a nervous beginner. Songs are chosen collaboratively with each student, prioritizing material they love over a fixed technical curriculum, since enjoyment consistently produces more consistent practice at home. I record short audio clips during lessons so students can hear their own genuine progress over time, which builds confidence more effectively than verbal reassurance alone.
