About Sonny
I believe music should be fun and rewarding. As a former school teacher, I can honestly say that the system is at times not set up correctly because it's so test score driven. That affects the fine arts as well. I am a believer that learning a music instrument should be fun because you can play it the rest of your life! I still play my instrument and love it!

My approach is very simple. I tailor my lessons to fit the student.
The best approach is working the basics:
a. Scales - Make them fun of course as well as a challenge
b. Tone on all 3 parts of the note. Beginning, middle, End - how to release the note is so critical.
c. Enjoyable solos. If a student likes a solo, they will practice.
d. Attainable goals - Goals cannot be impossible. Small goals = great rewards.
The thing that sets me apart from others is my fast pace and keeping the lesson engaging the entire time. I have had many students tell me they look forward to my lessons every week so I never miss.
I am also not afraid to teach all levels. I hear some teacher say they only want the best players. Not me. I will teach them all and make them great!
