About the lesson

My approach to teaching Spanish is supportive, practical, and tailored to each student. I want beginning students to feel comfortable speaking Spanish from the start, while developing a strong foundation in vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and listening. A typical lesson combines clear explanations with guided practice and conversation, and I adapt the pace and activities to your individual goals and learning style. Making mistakes is a natural part of learning a language, so my goal is to create an encouraging environment where you can practice and build confidence.

What sets me apart is my extensive experience teaching languages and my expertise in how people learn a second language. I was a university professor for more than 30 years, coordinated a first-year Spanish program, trained language instructors, and received several awards for excellence in teaching. My lessons are ideal for beginning Spanish students, including high school and college students taking Spanish I and adults learning Spanish for the first time. Whether you need help succeeding in a class or simply want to learn Spanish, I will meet you at your level and help you make steady, meaningful progress.
