About Daniel

I am a professional architect with 35 years of experience. I am new to the teaching profession but have mentored many young people over the past two decades. I have experience in most facets of business communications including the writing of technical specifications and reports, financial and cost reports, terms of references and project briefs, minutes, innumerable emails. I have chaired as many business and project meetings and have conducted my profession in Business English my whole career. Supporting my knowledge and experience, I have studied and earned my TEFL Level 5 Teaching Certificate to give back to the business community through Business English. My heart and passion is with students, young business people and even experience business people who want or need to improve their Business English skills. As a hobby, I have authored 6 novels in English developing my creative writing skills and my use of the English Language.

About the lesson

I have earned my Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 1985. I have followed my degree with two diplomas in project management, and three certificates in Creative and Novel writing at the South African Writer's College.

My preferred method of teaching is online, 1 to 1 or small groups of maximum 4 because of the quality of interaction. It is more taxing on both student and tutor but when mentoring young people I have found that the knowledge is more consolidated and internalised in that way. This means that 1 hour lessons are a bit long and I prefer to keep interaction to around 40 minutes

My common way of tutoring is through the use of questions. Questions get the creative juices started and it will guide both student and tutor to meet the exact need of the student's objective. Questions and answers also lead to discussions that develop the 4 skills of proficient language usage, namely speaking, listening, writing and reading.
