About Maria

I am originally from Germany where I studied languages (English, French, Spanish, Italian) to become a language teacher. I travelled extensively during my younger years in Europe, practicing these languages and getting to know the people and their culture. I lived for a year in Carcassonne, France, working as a high school student-teacher, and I spent one year in Montreal as a nanny in a French-Canadian/German family. I immigrated to Canada with a diploma in teaching. After completing the required coursework at the University of Alberta, I was able to teach in Alberta and British Columbia in the public school system.

I am an experienced, conscientious, flexible, and dynamic teacher. I connect well with students of all ages and dispositions. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and helping students learn and excel.

About the lesson

As a tutor I will work with the Alberta curriculum (incl. textbooks and other material online) to help my students improve and succeed. I have over 30 years of experience teaching different subjects at many levels (K-12 and adults) in the public and private school system in AB and BC, in English, French, and German.
I work well with students of all dispositions.

As a language instructor I will work with the student's preferences regarding speaking, listening, reading, writing... conversational or more academic focus. All levels K-12 and adults.
