About Oleksandr
Oleksandr Filiak is a UK-based Ukrainian conductor and former intern at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He is a recent graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London, where he earned a Master’s degree with Distinction and was awarded the DipRAM prize for an outstanding final performance.
Oleksandr has conducted a number of contemporary chamber opera premieres and classics such as Puccini’s La Bohème and Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne, and has assisted on major productions including Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov at the Opéra National de Lyon, Podgaiskaya’s King Stakh’s Wild Hunt at the Barbican Theatre — nominated for the 2024 Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera — Handel’s Ariodante at the Royal Academy of Music, Dove’s The Monster in the Maze, Beethoven’s Fidelio at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, and Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde at the National Opera of Ukraine, among others.
Oleksandr has been fortunate to receive guidance from esteemed conductors, including Sir Mark Elder, Edward Gardner, John Wilson, Mark Wigglesworth, Sian Edwards, Alice Farnham, Simeon Pironkov, Daniel Capps, Fabien Gabel, Nicholas Carter, and Daniele Rustioni.

With over 7 years of teaching experience, I offer 55-minute lessons tailored to each student's needs.
