About Clara

Hi there, I am Clara, a piano and music theory tutor with 7 years of teaching experience. As a classically trained pianist, I hold a Masters of Music degree from King's College London, along with a Graduate Diploma and a Bachelor of Music (First-Class Honours) from Royal College of Music. I also have extensive performance experience, ranging from solo recitals to orchestral projects. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of offering music lessons to students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, including individuals with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). I hold an enhanced DBS check and regularly enrol in teaching and safeguarding trainings, ensuring students learn in a safe and protective environment. I firmly believe that everyone possesses an innate musicality and a natural connection to music. My mission is to help each student develop their inner musician by using methods tailored to their unique needs. Ultimately, I strive to bring joy and fulfilment to their musical journey, guiding them to be a confident and skilful musician, finding their own special place in the world of music.

About the lesson

Whether you are working towards an ABRSM exam or seeking to deepen your understanding of music, I am confident in offering lessons that cater to your own pace within a safe and supportive learning environment. My pedagogy encompasses several key areas, including the development of musicality, active listening skills, music history and performance techniques. For young beginners, I incorporate a variety of games and activities to cultivate their interest in music. For more advanced students, I encourage experimentation on the instrument and research into relevant musical/historical topics while providing guided support. This approach helps build their independence and self-confidence, and equips them to navigate any challenges they may encounter in their musical journey. Lesson durations range from 30 minutes to an hour, tailored to what is best for the student and agreed upon before starting our sessions. I regularly review and adapt my teaching methods to align with students' progress and needs. While I maintain high expectations for my students, I teach with patience and compassion, always prioritise their physical and mental well-being.

Clara is patient and empathetic; she works well with children, and volunteers at youth camps over the summer. She is very caring and I have seen her do a fantastic job in creche, ensuring that the young children play safely and happily.
