About Jake
I am a graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (Bachelor of Music with honours). I have 5 years of teaching experience with people of all ages and standards. I have coached students towards their music exams and focus on all aspects of the exam, the playing, the sight reading, the scales and the aural test. I also coach people who have no interest in exams but simply want to get better at the cello technically and musically. I teach in a relaxed yet constructive environment and will work with with students at any level. I also teach music theory for students who are looking to sit their grade 5 theory exam.

I use my own exercises for teaching technique, each student will receive a customized page of exercises designed for warms ups and general technical improvement specifically designed to maximize their rate of progress. I teach in a friendly and relaxed environment to make students feel as comfortable as possible but ensuring that lessons are still constructive.
Subjects covered could include but are not limited to:
- Technique work for left and right hand
- Posture work to enforce good set up and technique
- Training for grade exams (ABRSM or Trinity)
- All aspects of grade exams including sight reading and aural skills
- Theory work
- Repertoire work and building
- Psychology of confident performing
- Scales
