About Tyler
I am a Canadian born teacher, composer and performer who now lives in London, UK. I have been teaching voice for 9 years and I've worked in both Canada and the UK, singing alongside performers like Natalie Weiss, The Canadian Tenors, and Ben Folds.
My priority is helping you discover a supported sound, and how to best connect the pharynx, larynx and core to achieve vocal ease between registers and have greater vocal control. I love what I do and will definitely "nerd out" with you about voice stuff.
With every exercise we try and every song we go through, the most important thing for me is that you have fun, and that you feel better equipped to understand and control your voice. I keep things very light and I always encourage my students to try, try, try! The more we do something, the better we become.

Hello! My name is Tyler and I'm a vocal coach with 10 years teaching experience. I primarily teach Musical Theatre, Pop and Jazz styles.
I currently teach at Guildford School of Acting as a vocal coach. I have an MA in Musical Theatre Performance and I am level 1 and 2 qualified in Wilson Method Teacher training.
My focus is building a strong awareness of what a 'supported sound' feels like and to troubleshoot areas of tension. Instrumentalists get to put down their instrument after practising and performing. As singers we have to carry our instrument around with us all day and the stress, anxieties and fatigue our bodies take on will affect our voice and how we sing. Bringing awareness to this and working on exercises to help relieve some of this tension is key to optimising your sound.
I teach all levels of voice, from beginner to advanced. I like to find out what your goals are and create a lesson plan that tailors to your goals and needs. Let me help you find your trademark sound!

Perfect! Tyler creates a friendly and relaxed environment during his lessons. He uses a practical and fully embodied approach to singing which has helped me greatly. He finds a good balance between focusing on technique and ensuring the lessons are fun.
