About Robbie
Hi! My name is Robbie and I have been teaching violin and piano for over 12 years to students of all ages and abilities. I’m passionate about helping students discover the joy of making music, whether they’re picking up an instrument for the very first time or working towards advanced exams.
Over the years, I’ve taught pupils from complete beginners right through to Grade 8 ABRSM, supporting them to build strong technique, confidence, and musical expression. I always aim to create a relaxed and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and progressing at their own pace.
I grew up playing both traditional Scottish music and classical music, and traditional music has always been a big part of my musical life. I went on to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, widely regarded as one of the leading centers for traditional music in Scotland. This experience deepened my love for traditional styles and gave me a strong foundation in technique, musicianship, and performance. I enjoy sharing this heritage with my students, whether that means learning classical repertoire, exploring traditional Scottish tunes, or simply developing a strong musical ear.

My lessons are for everyone. No matter your age or experience, you can develop your musical skills! I have taught people of all ages from 6 to 76, from beginners right up to Grade 8 ABSRM.
Each lesson you will be provided with written notes based on what we have discussed in the lesson as well as a plan for your practise before the next lesson.
Our lessons will cover everything including reading music and learning by ear as well as understanding music theory.
We will discuss what you're looking to achieve from music lessons and how best to achieve that!
