About Alayna
Hi there! I graduated from high school in 2015 with a perfect English Reading/Writing ACT score (36 in both) and went onto the University of Saint Thomas, where I graduated with an English degree (emphasis in Writing.) Since then I've been working as a full time tutor at an elementary school, and I love it!
I'm very qualified to work with children who have behavioral issues/learning disabilities, since that's what I do primarily during the day. I also love to help students of all ages learn the fundamentals of reading and writing, or prepare for the ACT/SAT. Reading and writing are my passion and I love to share them with others!

My teaching approach depends on the age of the student as well as the particular subject.
With elementary age kids I often used explicit phonics based interventions (I did a year of Reading Corps where we learned a LOT about teaching students how to identify letters, sound out words, etc!)
With older kids/those who aren't learning to read I have all sorts of different lessons, but I always make sure what I prepare has been backed by research supported methods.
My ACT/SAT prep is rigorous and demanding-- you will get a good score, but you will work for it!
