About Sam

I have been working as a professional musician since 2012 playing piano/keyboards in pop and rock bands, jazz ensembles, piano and voice duets, piano solo gigs and film score.

I have toured across the UK and performed in venues such as The Glasshouse International Centre for Music in Gateshead, The Cavern Club in Liverpool and festivals such as Stone Valley and Lindisfarne, Northumberland. I recorded my original song “The Town Where I Live” at Abbey Road Recording Studios in London. I composed a score for a feature film “Two Graves” which won The British Urban Film Festival Award in 2018.

I currently work in four bands; a Northern Soul band “The Odels” which tours across the UK. A jazz funk, rock and soul band “Shalala”, an original rock band “Swanhunt” and a piano and voice duet “The Acoostics” in the North East of England.

About the lesson

If you’re a beginner, or a student who would like extra support, I can tailor each lesson to suit your goals. The art of learning should be engaging and I can focus on how to read and play from a chord chart, train your listening skills to recognise a pop melody or a jazz riff, or to become familiar with the basics of piano from the keys to the correct fingering and rhythm structure. For those who have an interest in creative composition, we can explore the beauty and relevance of film score and look at how to layer chords and melodies to create your own cinematic soundscapes and the technology needed to do so.
