About Alex Thomas

My name is Alex, and I'm a student in the Sciences Po – Columbia Dual BA. I went through one of the most demanding dual-admissions processes in the world, applying to a French and an American institution in the same cycle, and I now help other students do the same.

I've mentored more than 25 students through selective admissions processes, and I run an admissions consultancy focused on Sciences Po Paris, its dual degree programs, and US universities, including the Ivy League.

I work with each student individually. Every application starts from the same question: what makes you a convincing candidate? From there, we build a strategy that holds across every system you apply to.

I speak English, Spanish, French and Portuguese, and I've studied and worked across France, Spain, the UK and Latin America. That lets me support students from very different school systems and help them present their background as an asset rather than a gap.

I'm direct about your chances, demanding about your work, and invested in your result. You write your applications; my job is to make sure they're the strongest version of you.

About the lesson

Aiming for the Ivy League, Sciences Po, or a Sciences Po dual degree? Work with a current Sciences Po student on the Columbia Dual BA track who prepares students for both the US and French admissions systems.

Who the lessons are for: high-school students, typically in their last two years, applying to:

Ivy League and other selective US universities (Common App, supplements, SAT strategy)
Sciences Po's international undergraduate procedure
Sciences Po's dual BA programmes, including Columbia, UC Berkeley and UBC

Lessons are in English, French, Spanish or Portuguese.

My method: selective admissions rewards coherence, not polish. We start by mapping your profile (grades, activities, languages, interests) and finding the threads that make you convincing to US and European admissions committees at once. One strong narrative then feeds every application: the Common App essay, US supplements, Sciences Po motivation letters and interviews.

A typical session:

10 min: review of the work you prepared since last time
40 min: focused work on one component (university list, Common App essay, supplements, Sciences Po letters, activity list or a mock interview)
10 min: clear tasks and deadlines for the next session
