About Suvan

Hi, I’m Suvan! I’m a first-year Pre-Med Biology student at the University of Florida, originally from Northern Virginia.

I’ve always been the kind of person who needs to know why something works, not just that it does. That curiosity pulled me into a medical laboratory technology program in high school, where I got hands-on time in hematology and microbiology labs, prepping samples and seeing what’s actually going on inside the body. These days I’m hooked on cancer biology, especially immunotherapy and the way researchers are starting to use AI to model proteins and make sense of genomic data. It’s a field where the answers are still being written, and I love that.

Outside of class, you’ll usually find me at the gym. Sticking to a training routine has taught me something I believe about learning in general: progress comes from showing up consistently and pushing a little past where you were last time. Nobody lifts their max on day one, and nobody masters a test overnight either.

During my senior year of high school, I ran an SAT bootcamp with students from all over the world. Watching someone go from stuck to confident is one of my favorite feelings, and it’s a big part of why I tutor. I remember how stressful test prep can be, and I want to help make it feel manageable and maybe even a little fun.

I’ve been tutoring since my senior year of high school, when I ran an SAT bootcamp for 5 students over 3 months. Many of my students were international, preparing for the SAT from outside the U.S., which meant adapting to different school backgrounds, levels of English fluency, and time zones. It taught me early on that no two students need the same thing.

My typical students are high schoolers preparing for the SAT, from those just starting out to those trying to push an already solid score higher. I’m especially comfortable working with international students and with anyone who feels anxious or discouraged about testing.

My approach starts with a diagnostic test, so we’re working from real data instead of guesses. From there, I focus on understanding why an answer is right rather than memorizing tricks, because real understanding carries over to questions you’ve never seen before. A typical session mixes a short concept review, targeted practice on the student’s weakest areas, and a careful look at mistakes, which I think is the most valuable part of any session. As test day gets closer, we shift toward timed sections and full practice tests to build pacing and stamina. I also track progress between sessions so students can see how far they’ve come, because confidence makes a real difference on test day.

The methodology paragraph describes a solid, standard approach, so tweak it to match what you actually did in your bootcamp; interviewers sometimes ask you to walk through a session, and it’s easier if the description is genuinely yours. Your own SAT score is worth including if it’s strong, since it’s usually the first thing parents and students look for. And if you get into Academic Allies, that’s worth adding here as well.
