I am a dedicated and results-driven private tutor with a track record of helping students achieve their target grades, build lasting subject mastery, and gain true academic confidence. I support learners across all key stages - from primary 11+ entrance preparation to GCSE and advanced A-Level specifications.
My teaching philosophy bridges the gap between deep conceptual understanding and rigorous exam technique. Rather than relying on passive memorisation, I teach students how to think from an examiner’s perspective, structure high-scoring answers, and build independent academic confidence.
Techniques & Methodology:
Diagnostic Assessment: Pinpointing specific knowledge gaps, syllabus blind spots, and common misconceptions from day one.
Scaffolded Learning: Breaking down complex mechanisms and high-level theory using an "I do, We do, You do" model before transitioning to independent application.
Mark Scheme & Structure Focus: Training students on exact keyword triggers for multi-step calculations, extended 6-mark science responses, synoptic A-Level questions, and structured analytical essays (What-How-Why / PEE frameworks).
Active Retrieval & Live Marking: Using real past-paper walkthroughs, examiner reports, and collaborative marking to ensure retention and rapid grade improvement under timed conditions.
Typical Lesson Length:
60 minutes for primary, 11+, and GCSE.
60 to 90 minutes for A-Level (recommended for in-depth topic analysis, synoptic links, and intensive past-paper dissection).
Who the Lessons Are For:
A-Level / Sixth Form (Years 12–13): Advanced topic mastery, synoptic link building, rigorous mark scheme alignment, and preparation for university admissions or top-tier grade boundaries (A/A*).
GCSE & Key Stage 4 (Years 10–11): Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and English (specification mastery, essay frameworks, and core exam preparation).
Key Stage 3 (Years 7–9): Building strong subject foundations to smoothly bridge the leap to GCSE study.
Primary & 11+ (Years 5–6): Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning, and
Non-Verbal Reasoning (focusing on mental agility, speed, and competitive entrance exam techniques).
Experience & Qualifications:
Experienced private tutor supporting learners from Year 5 primary up to Year 13 A-Level.
Deep familiarity with major UK exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR).
Strong academic background across the sciences, mathematics, and humanities with a proven record of improving grades and exam confidence.
