About Hillary

I was you. I know how much pressure and anxiety you have on you to succeed, and how hard it is to even get yourself to your desk chair sometimes. I promise you- you are not alone. Whether you like it right now or not school is something we all should strive to finish, and regardless of those external pressures, you have to pass those required math courses to do so. Working with me will introduce you to a new method of learning that will ensure you make it, while also having fun doing it. Okay- maybe not fun, but you'll have plenty of those "Ohhhhh" moments when a concept finally clicks that will leave you wishing you had found me sooner. I am a student just like you, having experience in university level calculus, linear algebra, and trigonometry- I get the monster that math can be made out to be. It is not as scary as it seems, I'll show you how truly understandable math can be.

About the lesson

I take a very personalized approach to teaching that emphasizes students needing to learn information in a way that makes sense to THEM, not to the teacher who has been studying it for 15 years. School, especially math, can be a very daunting and scary task for a young mind to navigate. Learning with me will give you the tools and guidance you need to succeed, brought to you in a way that is simple and catered to how you learn. I will first get to know you with a couple of questions about your learning history and your personality. Based on this information, you will then provide me with questions you have based on the theoretical material of what you are learning and I will cater my responses in a way that will help you understand, whether that is through visual, auditory, or tactile strategies, or a combination of all methods. Once I know you have thoroughly understood WHY you are solving the questions in the way that you are, we will begin with practice problems to solidify your understanding. I will be able to help you answer those tough equations and sequences with my experience in mathematics as a second year Engineering student. I cater my lessons to middle/high school level students.
