About Kiara Gissel
I am a student at Northern Arizona University (NAU); I will be graduating with my BSEd in Secondary English Education this spring (May 2020). I am also an accelerated Master's student, graduating with my MA in Teaching English as a Second Language in May 2021. I have been tutoring in English/writing for five years. I have been tutoring as a volunteer in the Flagstaff Unified School District and as a professional tutor in the Honors College Writing Center at NAU.

I approach each session by asking the student what he/she hopes to accomplish. Then I offer my recommendations. I work with the student to achieve his/her academic goals so that he/she is an active participant in his/her learning, rather than it be me solely lecturing at the student. My intent is to ensure learning, understanding, and success for every individual student.
