About Pavinya
Hi, I'm Pavinya! Born and raised in Malaysia, now living in the UK, where I recently finished my Masters at the University of Exeter. Growing up surrounded by Malaysia's mix of languages, food and cultures gave me a real love for my mother tongue, and there's nothing I enjoy more than sharing it with new learners.
When I'm not teaching, you'll probably find me at the bottom of a swimming pool. I play underwater hockey (yes, it's a real sport!), which has taught me patience, teamwork and staying calm under pressure, all things I bring to my lessons too. And having made the move from Malaysia to the UK myself, I know exactly what it feels like to find your feet in a new language and culture.

My approach is conversation first. Rather than working through grammar drills, we build each lesson around real situations you'll actually encounter, like introducing yourself, ordering food, or getting around town. You'll speak Malay from the very first lesson, and I'll introduce grammar and vocabulary naturally as we go, along with the cultural context that textbooks skip. Every lesson is tailored to your goals and pace, and I share practice materials so you keep progressing between sessions.
Lessons are 60 minutes and held via video call, with flexible scheduling across time zones. As a lifelong native speaker, I bring authentic pronunciation, natural phrasing, and firsthand knowledge of Malaysian culture to every class.
