I expect of a Student to interested by the craft
I believe that many professionals artists are not especially keen on some struggles a beginner might find while learning I've taught teens and preteens who show results within the first week.
My methods resume in theory and demonstrations followed by constant supervision of the progress using the 80/20 percent rule to maximize the "try and fail" aspect of learning. Also teaching the student how to learn by itself the same thechniques I used while "self- teaching" myself.
