About Haza
With over 25 years of dedicated service as a Matriculation Lecturer at the Centre for Foundation Studies, IIUM, I have successfully mentored thousands of students through the critical transition from secondary school to university-level Mathematics and Statistics. My career has been built on the belief that anyone can master quantitative subjects if they are given the right logical framework and the confidence to apply it.
I am currently further advancing my expertise as a PhD Candidate in Data Science. This unique combination of decades of classroom experience and cutting-edge research allows me to provide students with a learning experience that is both academically rigorous and industry-relevant.
As a long-standing matriculation lecturer, I possess an intimate understanding of curriculum design, marking rubrics, and the common pitfalls that cause students to lose marks.
I specialize in helping Foundation, A-Level, and Matriculation students adapt to the speed and depth of university mathematics.

1. Techniques and Teaching Methodology
I focus on Conceptual Scaffolding instead of rote memorization. I ensure students understand the underlying logic of a theorem or statistical test before we touch a calculator.
Having spent 25 years at as a pre-u lecturer, I teach students the examiner’s perspective, which is how to structure working steps to secure every single mark, even if the final answer is a slip.
2. Typical Length of a Lesson
Standard Session: 1.5 hours (90 minutes). I find that 60 minutes is too short for complex problem-solving, and 120 minutes leads to cognitive fatigue.
Structure:
15 mins: Review of previous week's hurdles.
45 mins: New concept delivery and guided practice.
30 mins: Independent problem-solving with on-the-spot correction.
3. Qualifications & Experience as a Tutor
Institutional Authority: 25 years as a Matriculation Lecturer at the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS), IIUM. I have personally guided thousands of students through the transition from school to degree-level studies.
Academic Depth: B. Eng (Tokushima University, Japan), MSc (Statistics) (UKM), Dip Ed (MPRM, Seremban), current PhD student in Data Science.
