About Tessa

I am a passionate chess tutor with 7 years of teaching experience, helping school and college students build strong skills and confidence in the game. Over the years, I have successfully trained around 200 to 250 students, guiding them from beginners to advanced levels. My teaching focuses on clear understanding, smart thinking, and practical application.

I believe chess is not just a game but a powerful way to develop focus, patience, and decision making. My teaching philosophy is based on simple explanations, step by step learning, and consistent practice. I make sure every student understands the basics before moving to advanced strategies like openings, tactics, and endgames.

I also help students analyze their games, learn from mistakes, and improve their thinking process. I create a friendly and supportive environment where students feel comfortable to ask questions and grow.

Many of my students have improved their performance in school competitions and gained confidence in playing tournaments. My goal is to help every student enjoy chess, think independently, and achieve their full potential.

About the lesson

My teaching approach in chess focuses on building strong thinking skills while making learning clear and enjoyable. I guide students step by step, starting with fundamentals like piece movement, board control, and basic checkmates. As they improve, I introduce openings, middle game strategies, and endgame techniques in a structured way.

I teach important chess concepts such as tactics, positional play, pattern recognition, and time management. Students learn how to analyze positions, calculate moves, and make smart decisions under pressure. I also include game analysis so they can understand mistakes and improve continuously.

My tutoring style is based on compassion, accountability, integrity, and clear communication. I support each student with patience and encouragement while also helping them stay consistent and responsible in their practice. I believe honesty and constructive feedback are key to real improvement.

Lessons are personalized based on the student’s level and goals, whether they are beginners or advanced players. I also help with tournament preparation, strategy building, and confidence development. My goal is to help students think independently, play creatively, and grow into strong and confident chess players.
