About Shayan
I'm Shayan, a writing tutor from the Bay Area CA with a bachelor's degree in English from UC Berkeley. I have 6+ years experience working both online and in person with students. I am an artist, poet and theorist with a passion for the written word. I had two professors in college who significantly impacted me as a writer and I hope to pass on the inspiration they gave me to you.

In a typical lesson I will teach you how to write a successful academic essay. I employ conceptual templates that I've developed over the years as both a student and a teacher. These templates are structural breakdowns of essay anatomy; they provide a formula that makes the writing process simple and easily repeatable. As I familiarize myself with your unique writing style, I show you where your strengths are and where you have opportunities to improve. I ask you questions that trigger your critical thinking muscles and expand the quality of analysis in your work. I strive to create a safe and positive learning environment in which you can develop your own voice as a writer.
I have experience working with students in a wide range of subjects. From Psychology to English literature to STEM, I aim to build your writing ability up to the point where you feel confident taking on any future academic essay assignment.
