About Simon
I’m Simon Hunter, an award-winning director with over 25 years’ experience in film and television. My work includes the feature films Edie, Mutant Chronicles, and Can You Hear Me?, which have screened internationally and featured BAFTA-winning and Hollywood talent. I’ve directed commercials for major brands, taught at Raindance Film Festival, and mentored emerging filmmakers. As both a working filmmaker and an experienced teacher, I bring real-world insight into every lesson. My goal is to help students develop their creativity, build confidence in their craft, and gain the tools they need to succeed in the film industry.

My Approach to Teaching I believe screenwriting and filmmaking are best learnt through a balance of theory and practice. My lessons combine structured teaching (story, structure, character, visual storytelling) with hands-on exercises, feedback, and discussion. I encourage students to bring their own ideas so we can develop them together. Methodology Break down professional scripts and films to understand what works. Practical writing and directing exercises each session Personalised feedback tailored to your goals Guidance on screenwriting, pitching, production, and industry pathways. Lesson Length Typical lessons last 60 minutes, depending on your preference and the stage of your project.
