About Dylan
Hello! I’m Dylan Charter. I am an experienced intermediate teacher currently teaching in Auckland, originally from the United States. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Education from Northern Arizona University, along with a minor in Environmental Sciences and a certificate in Outdoor Education. I have worked with a wide range of learners across both primary and intermediate levels, and my move to New Zealand has broadened my teaching perspective and strengthened my ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
I have a strong passion for creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences and supporting students in building both their skills and confidence. Before teaching in the classroom, I worked in outdoor and marine education, where I developed my ability to make learning meaningful and memorable. I value clear communication, strong relationships, and creating a positive learning environment where students feel supported and encouraged to grow. My goal is to help each student feel successful, capable, and motivated in their learning journey.

My lessons are engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. As a current intermediate teacher, I use proven classroom strategies/pedagogies and adapt them into one-on-one tutoring to help students build confidence and strengthen their skills in reading, writing, science, and math. I structure each session with clear learning goals, guided practice, and opportunities for independent application, so students understand both the “how” and the “why” behind their learning.
I often incorporate interactive activities, real-world connections, and student interests to keep lessons meaningful and motivating. Whether we are working on writing structure, reading comprehension, problem solving in math, or scientific thinking, I provide step-by-step support and immediate feedback. My goal is to create a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, take ownership of their learning, and leave each lesson feeling successful and more confident.
