About Sasha

Over the past 12 years, I have taught piano to nearly 300 students, including high school learners, college students, and adults, helping them develop technical proficiency, musicality, and confidence in performance. My teaching philosophy emphasises structured learning, consistent practice, and expressive playing, focusing on posture, hand coordination, finger control, scales, arpeggios, rhythm, sight-reading, and interpretation.

Lessons include technical exercises, repertoire practice, and theory, and I also provide guidance on effective home practice strategies to ensure steady progress. Many students have performed confidently in recitals, school events, and competitions, while others have achieved high distinctions in graded examinations.

My goal is to provide a supportive, motivating, and inspiring learning environment where students feel confident and encouraged to achieve their full potential.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching piano combines discipline, adaptability, and motivation. I understand that learning an instrument requires patience and consistent effort, so I design lessons that are structured yet flexible. I first identify each student’s strengths and challenges, then create a personalised lesson plan that supports gradual improvement.

Technical training is a key focus, including posture alignment, finger strength exercises, scales, chord progressions, hand coordination, rhythm stability, articulation clarity, and expressive phrasing.

I also teach students how to practise effectively at home, showing them how to divide pieces into manageable sections, set short-term goals, and track progress. When a student struggles with a concept, I adjust my explanation or introduce creative exercises to reinforce understanding.

Collaboration encourages students to take ownership of their musical journey, while positivity builds confidence and reduces performance anxiety. In addition to piano, I provide lessons in music theory, sight-reading, harmony, ear training, and basic improvisation to ensure a complete musical education.
