About Tess

As a Violin tutor with 5 years of experience, I have successfully taught around 150 students ranging from beginners to advanced learners. My journey in teaching has been filled with rewarding experiences, helping students discover their musical potential.

My lessons are designed to be engaging, structured, and supportive. I focus on building strong basics—proper posture, bow control, tone clarity, and rhythm accuracy—while also introducing enjoyable pieces that keep students motivated. I ensure that students understand both practical playing and essential music theory concepts.

I strongly believe that learning violin should be a joyful and confident experience. I adapt my teaching style according to each student’s pace and goals. Whether someone wants to learn for school programmes, stage performances, or personal passion, I guide them step by step.

One of my unique skills is creating a positive learning atmosphere where students feel comfortable making mistakes and improving. I also train students to develop consistent practice habits and overcome stage fear.

My mission is to help students not only play the violin beautifully but also grow in confidence, discipline, and love for music.

About the lesson

I teach violin using a methodology focused on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to create well-rounded musicians who are technically proficient, expressive, and confident. Lessons are fully personalised to the student’s abilities, goals, and learning style, blending technical exercises, creative exploration, improvisation, and performance preparation.

Motivation is the heart of my teaching. I guide students to set achievable short-term and long-term goals, track progress carefully, and celebrate milestones. This fosters perseverance, self-confidence, and a genuine love for music. Students learn to embrace challenges, transform mistakes into growth opportunities, and develop a mindset of continuous improvement.

Communication ensures lessons are interactive, collaborative, and supportive. Students are encouraged to ask questions, express challenges, and share ideas freely, creating an engaging and positive learning environment.

Creativity is integrated into every lesson. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises allow students to develop a personal artistic voice, emotional expression, and connection to music. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice, respect for learning, and consistency, cultivating habits that ensure long-term growth and excellence.

Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and introductory piano, giving students a complete and well-rounded foundation in music. This methodology ensures students grow into technically skilled, expressive, confident, and inspired musicians, equipped for performance and academic success.
