About Riley

With 7 years of professional violin teaching experience and over 150 students successfully trained, I specialise in teaching violin to learners of all levels. My experience includes working with school students, college learners, and hobbyists who are passionate about mastering the instrument.

My tutoring approach combines structured technical training with creative musical expression. I emphasise proper posture, bowing techniques, intonation, rhythm accuracy, and tone production. Each lesson is carefully planned to ensure steady improvement while maintaining student engagement and enthusiasm.

I strongly believe that every student learns differently. Therefore, I customise lesson plans based on individual goals—whether it is preparing for performances, grade examinations, or learning for personal interest. I encourage consistent practice habits and provide clear guidance on how to practice effectively.

One of my unique skills is breaking down advanced techniques into manageable steps, helping students overcome challenges confidently. I also incorporate ear training and music theory to develop well-rounded musicians.

My goal is to create disciplined, confident, and expressive violinists who not only play correctly but also connect emotionally with music.

About the lesson

I teach violin using a methodology focused on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to develop technically skilled, expressive, and confident musicians. Lessons are fully personalised, blending structured technical exercises with creative exploration, improvisation, and performance preparation.

Motivation is central. I work with students to set short-term and long-term goals, track progress, and celebrate milestones. This fosters perseverance, self-confidence, and a lifelong love for music. Students learn to approach challenges positively and turn mistakes into learning opportunities.

Communication ensures lessons are interactive, collaborative, and supportive. Students are encouraged to ask questions, share difficulties, and explore ideas openly, fostering engagement and trust.

Creativity is integrated into every lesson. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises allow students to explore their artistic voice and develop emotional expression. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice, respect for learning, and consistency, building habits that ensure long-term growth and excellence.

Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and piano, giving students a comprehensive foundation that nurtures technical mastery, artistic expression, confidence, and lifelong engagement with music.
