About Lorelei

I am a dedicated violin tutor with 7 years of teaching and professional music experience, passionate about helping students develop both technical mastery and artistic expression. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners learning foundational techniques to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.

One of the highlights of my career has been seeing students grow from hesitant beginners into confident performers capable of playing with skill, emotion, and musicality. My teaching emphasises building strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also fostering creativity, musical interpretation, and expressive performance.

I integrate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to provide students with a complete understanding of music.

Lessons are tailored to each student’s pace, goals, and learning style, creating a supportive, patient, and inspiring environment where students are encouraged to explore, express themselves, and reach their full potential. Teaching violin allows me to inspire confidence, discipline, and a lifelong passion for music.

About the lesson

I teach violin using a methodology centred on motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, designed to cultivate technically skilled, expressive, and confident musicians. Lessons are fully customised to each student’s goals, abilities, and learning style, combining structured technical exercises, creative exploration, improvisation, and performance preparation.

Motivation drives engagement. I help students set meaningful goals, track their progress, and celebrate achievements, fostering perseverance, self-confidence, and a lifelong passion for music. Students learn to approach challenges positively and recognise the value of consistent effort.

Communication ensures lessons are collaborative, interactive, and supportive. Students are encouraged to ask questions, share challenges, and explore ideas freely, creating a safe and productive learning environment.

Creativity is integrated into every lesson. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises allow students to explore their artistic voice and strengthen their emotional connection to music. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice and respect for learning, fostering habits that ensure long-term success.

Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and introductory piano, providing a comprehensive musical foundation that develops technical mastery, artistic expression, confidence, and lifelong engagement.
