About Peter
I received my bachelor of arts in English from San Francisco State University and my master of fine arts in English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I currently teach composition and public speaking at Smith College. I also direct a creative writing program for high school students and a College Readiness program that helps high school students learn the skills they will need to succeed in college. I also work as a writing counselor at Smith College where I help students write essays for classes across the curriculum as well as write grant proposals, graduate school and internship applications and cover letters. Finally, I am also a filmmaker and have had several short films accepted to IMDB qualifying film festivals.

Over the last twenty years, I have taught composition, literature, creative writing and public speaking to students in middle school, high school, college and college graduate programs. This experience, combined with my passion for students’ expressive and intellectual development has made me a versatile instructor, able to accommodate a broad spectrum of learning and writing abilities, needs, and interests.
